About this siteI set up this website in the hope that you can help me to raise €4000 for Concern by running in the New York Marathon on November 6th 2016. Thanks to all of you who have supported me I have already raised €1500 !
I am hoping I can inspire you to run with me during some of my training runs in Ireland and maybe I can help you to start getting fit for your first Marathon!! I did my first triathlon in May 2012 , six months after my second child was born. I was unfit and uncomfortable with my body and the thought of swimming in a lake made me want to vomit. But this guy in the photo with me in his swimsuit told me I could it , he said it would be fun and we will be doing it for a good cause. This guy is called Eddie and if you have met him you will know he doesn't take "No" for an answer! |
My background |
I am Spanish, living in Ireland now for almost 20 years now. I came to Dublin in October 1996 to learn English after I finished my leaving certificate in Tenerife ( my home town). I had no idea then that I would be settling down and raising a family here. My dad gave me 3 months and as a good stubborn Catholic girl I stayed a year and then I asked him to study my degree here. I convinced my conservative Spanish dad to let me study in a foreign country under no supervision other than my own! That took some courage and with that I graduated with a BA in Tourism studies and a MBS from UCD's Michael Smurfit School of Business, I wasn't full of brains but I was full of ambition and determination and that took me where I am now. I am a lecturer in Marketing ( mainly digital) in third level and executive education at various institutions. Check my bio /uploads/7/3/4/6/73467693/eva_perez_bio_blog.doc

My passions |
One of my biggest passions is teaching. Something I never knew I would do for living but that has brought out the best in me. With this comes my passion for helping others when I can. I love my job, I love my kids and my family and I love sports ,especially outdoors. I practiced Judo from the age of 8 to just before I moved to Dublin. I won a few local competitions and obtained brown/black belt. I was agile, light, and very very competitive. I am now older, not as agile not as light but still competitive . Doing the NY Marathon will be the biggest fitness challenge of my life.
